Naseem Anwar Baig passes away

Monday, June 25, 2012 - Islamabad—Naseem Anwar Baig former Chief of Recruitment, Unesco and a prominent Pakistani who participated in the Pakistan Movement as a student leader passed away early Sunday after a brief illness.

He had developed complication after suffering from pneumonia last winter.

Naseem Baig was buried in the Ajowaeli Graveyard near Fateh Jang Sunday evening. His Rasm-e-Qul will be held on Tuesday (tomorrow), 5 p.m. at his residence 4, Faisal Avenue.

Nasim Anwar Baig though served Unesco for over 30 years yet he never gave up his Pakistani pass port and returned to his homeland after serving for three decades in Paris.

“Naseem Anwar Baig remained concerned about the future of Pakistan and used to discuss the subject with his guests and friends,” said former federal secretary Parveen Qadir Agha while talking to Pakistan Observer.

He was an activist of the Pakistan Movement and some ten years back the government bestowed a gold medal on him for his role in the Movement, she said.
