Sadiq Degree College turns into Women University

Monday, July 04, 2011 - Bahawalpur—The Provincial Government has announced Government Sadiq Girls Degree College Bahawalpur as Women University and classes will be initiated from September 2011, it was disclosed in 2nd meeting of Board of Governors, Government Sadiq Girls College, chaired by District Coordination Officer, Dr. Naeem Rauf.

The Principal Mrs. Qaisara Yaqoob, Prof. Attaullah Awan, Dr. Rana Muhammad Tariq, Mrs. Safia Farogh, Mrs. Sumera Gardaizi, Dr. Nusrat Waheed, Prof. Dr. Razia Musarat, and Prof. Sabiha Khakwani attended the meeting. In the meeting Mrs. Qaisara Yaqoob, Principal, was appointed as project director for up-gradation of Sadiq Girls College and establishment of Women University. It was pointed out that on first stage M.A English, Urdu, Islamiyat, and History will be introduced and the faculty is being enhanced to fulfill the demand of Women University in each department.

Dr. Naeem Rauf, DCO, examined the problems and resources of Sadiq Girls Degree College. Mrs. Qaisara Yaqoob said the Government has provided furniture and the funds amount of 2 Lac 40 thousands which will be spent to purchase books for Library.

She further said BS.Computer Science, BS Information Technology, Botany, Chemistry, Education, Economics, English, Fine Arts and Psychology classes are going on in the institution and there are 426 students in first semester despite 384 in second.
