Maulana Fazl oozes revenge feelings

Wednesday, May 08, 2013 - Dera Ismail Khan—Chairperson Tehreek-e-Masawat Musarrat Shaheen has said that Maulana Fazl-ur-Rehman may issue decree (fatwa) against her out of fear of defeat as he has done against Imran Khan. She expressed these views while addressing female gathering in connection with the general elections here on Tuesday. Musarrat Shaheen said that she has decided to participate in the elections to change the fate of people of the area adding that her opponent Maulana Fazl-ur Rehman has done nothing for the welfare of the area and its people. She claimed that her opponents would bit dust on May 11 because people would reject them through their votes. Despite having very little chance to win elections, Shaheen has decided to jump into the fray against Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman from NA-24 D.I. Khan where some other heavyweights including Waqar Ahmad Khan of Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarians (PPP), Mustafa Kundi of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and Malik Rehan of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) are also contesting against the JUI-F chief. Musarrat Shaheen, once an apple of everybody’s eye, is now looking for fans as there could be hardly few supporters of the former top and bold Pashto film star in an area dominated by the hardcore Deobandi school of thought, which is also her home town, but the actress has been living in Lahore since long. She has been allotted the symbol of ‘bangles’ by the ECP contrary to her choice of ‘scissors’. She is optimistic to defeat what she calls the corrupt politicians and wants to devote her life to eradicate corruption from the society. Musarrat Shaheen contested 1997 elections from the same constituency against Maulana Fazal-ur-Rehman but both Shaheen and Fazal lost that election to a PML-N candidate.—APP
