Knowing some thing about any unknown thing is called knowledge. It is nature of human who’s wishing to know about any thing new. The delivery of knowledge, skills and information from teachers to students is inadequate to capture what is really important about being and becoming educated. To educate human being God sent thousands of prophets. God also sent a holy books along with prophet to guide human being. Such teaching and learning process is called education.

Gilgit Baltistan is one of backward area which was affiliated with Pakistan in 1948.There was no educational setup at the time of affiliation in the area. Gradually some brilliant student of GB moved toward different cities such as Karachi, Lahore etc to get education .some of them when returned to their home after completion of their education, they started teaching their children, thus people got aware educationally. They demanded the government to build schools in the region where their children can get education, but their demand was neglected because there is no representative in the senate and national assembly of Pakistan.

After a few year of affiliation some schools were opened in Gilgit Baltistan thus the education system of GB came into being. In early time only primary and middle schools were opened so student of GB could not forward their education due to absence of high schools. Gradually these middle schools were upgraded to high schools. In such case students of GB moved toward cities after completion of their matriculation to continue their studies because there was no college in GB. In the mid of 1970 few college was build in GB. Nowadays there are eighteen colleges in GB including eight Girls College and ten Boys College which were running by Federal government before eighteen amendments.

There was no concept of higher education in GB before 1990. During last one decade higher education institutions were constructed in GB. The first university of GB namely Karakorum University came into being during the reign of Gen Retire Pervez Musharaf. Another campus of this university was established in Skardu in 2010 which is currently facing financial crises. The only way to solve educational problem in Gilgit Baltistan federal government should make the region province by amendment in the constitution of Pakistan. In this way GB government will be able to get share in NFC award and that will reduce economical crises.

We can progress by seeking knowledge only. All the solutions of crises are hidden in only education. We can reduce Islamic extremism, poverty, hunger, disease by getting knowledge only. To improve education, government should take interest in this field and should bring educational reforms in the area by building schools, colleges and universities which will bring prosperity in the region.
