Court orders arrest of Shunaid Qureshi

Tuesday, January 07, 2014 - Karachi—The Judicial Magistrate South (Fifth) Karachi, has ordered the police to arrest and produce Shunaid Qureshi – CEO Al Abbas Sugar Mills and former Chairman Pakistan Sugar Mills Association (PASMA) before the court on January 10, this year.

This order was issued by the court after hearing the investigation officer of the case and carefully perusing the entire case record and police file found the offense to be tried on merits and therefore accepted the instant challan submitted by the police.

They directed the police to register the case for offense punishable under section 147-149- 506-504-427 PPC against Shunaid Qureshi who has been already declared as absconder, in the FIR registered against him Saddar Police Station. Qureshi is also Director of Javedan Cement Company and Naya Nazimabad, a controversial residential and commercial project.

It may be noted that Naya Nazimabad is polluted with cancer-causing Asbestos according to an independent environmental report ordered by the Supreme Court of Pakistan. The population residing in NAYA NAZIMABAD is prone to cancer-like diseases through asbestos; a chemical that can affect the population in neighborhood as it is air-borne.
