MULTAN – Travelling by Metro Bus and Orange Line Train will become expensive as the caretaker government announced marginal increase in fares.

The outgoing government in Punjab approved an increase in fares for the Orange Line train and Multan metro bus.

Amid increase in expenditures, and fuel rates, the fare for Orange Line Metro Train project has been increased by five rupees per ticket, while a similar hike has been approved for the Multan metro bus.

The government also approved a Rs5rupee hike in feeder bus fares in response to the recent surge in fuel prices.

With the latest surge in fares, the government is expected to garner an additional annual income of Rs. 82.85 million from fare revenue.

It should be noted fares for the Lahore and Rawalpindi-Islamabad metro bus services will remain unchanged as of February 2024.

Earlier, the government dismissed proposal suggesting Rs.15 hike in fares for Metrobus and Speedobus services.
