Dense fog engulfed the provincial metropolis and threw out road, rail and air traffic gear, besides causing severe difficulties for the citizens among worst power breakdown on Sunday.
The foggy condition caused the weather to get colder, forcing the masses to stay indoor despite holiday. The dense fog disrupted road traffic owing to poor visibility, which impacted people movement, badly hampering routine life in the metropolis. On the other hand, dense fog, forced closure of some section of Motorway M-2 from Lahore to Islamabad due to poor visibility , a spokesperson of the Motorway Police said.
The spokesperson informed that Motorway section M-4 from Pindi Bhattian to Multan Cantt was also closed due to hazy conditions and visibility problem Sunday morning. According to the spokesperson, the traffic was halted at M-3 section from Lahore to Darkhana and the road was closed owing to dense fog.
Fog also covered the National Highway at Lahore, Pattoki, Okara, Sahiwal, Harappa, Cheechawatani, Mian Channu, Khaniwal and Multan, according to the road police.
The national highway also engulfed by fog at Basti Malook, Bahawalpur and Lodhran as visibility limit was ranged upto 20, the police spokesperson said.
The fog has blanketed most of the roads across the province owing to extreme cold weather conditions and the air pollution.
Meanwhile, the fog also disrupted air traffic at Allama Iqbal International Airport, which resulted in the cancellation of various international and local lights. Passengers, on the other hand, faced great difficulties due to delay and cancellation of flights.
