The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Lahore on Tuesday extended interim bail of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leaders till October 23 in a case pertaining to clash outside the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) Lahore office on the occasion of appearance of the party vice president Maryam Nawaz.
The anti-terrorism court (ATC) accepted the plea of Rana Sanaullah for exemption from personal appearance in the hearing due to the session of the National Assembly.
A special court had earlier directed to save footage of the scuffle outside the NAB office during the appearance of PML-N vice president Maryam Nawaz. The accused persons are facing charges of violating the law during the appearance of Maryam Nawaz before the NAB investigators.
Earlier on October 17, the anti-terrorism court had extended interim bail of PML-N leaders Rana Sanaullah and Captain (retd) Safdar until October 20 in the NAB office attack case.
On Aug 11, PML-N workers – who accompanied Maryam Nawaz from Jati Umrah to the NAB office in a convoy allegedly pelted stones at police officials and tried to break the barriers outside the anti-corruption watchdog’s office.
In retaliation, the police resorted to aerial firing, shelling and baton charge to disperse the infuriated crowd. Several protesters including women were arrested.
Meanwhile, talking to media outside the court, Capt (r) Safdar said that they are not afraid of cases. The movement for “give izzat to vote” has not stopped. “Telling the mother about one’s problem and saying long live mother is not an offence. Fatima Jinnah had talked of dignity of vote”, he claimed.
He claimed that 2018 elections were stolen and the entire world is aware of it. “If saying long live mother is crime then I will keep on committing this crime”, he added. What crime I have committed if I have chanted the slogan of live long mother. I chanted the slogan of vote ko izzat do, I will now chant this slogan every year on October 18 at mausoleum of Quaid-e-Azam, he underlined.
Father of nation has created Pakistan and it is our obligation to save it, he remarked.
Safdar said: “I salute judicial system which accepted my bail plea. We will face cases at Lahore, Peshawar and Gujranwala. We have confidence in judicial system. Vote ko izzat do is slogan of Mian Nawaz Sharif. What is wrong therein.”
