KARACHI – TV host Ashfaque Satti was suspended by the ARY News channel after he was accused of domestic abuse by his wife Nomaika.
The news channel shared the development on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, stating that stern action has been taken against Satti for allegedly assaulting his wife.
“He is hereby suspended with immediate effect till the law takes its course and decides the matter,” read the announcement. The channel added that it had a “zero tolerance policy” on violence or threats of violence.
The development came after a case was registered against Ashfaque Ishaq Satti for assaulting his wife Nomaika Ashfaque Satti in Karachi.
The ARY TV host show was booked on a complaint filed by his third wife at the North Nazimabad police station a day earlier after she shared her ordeal on social media platform, accusing her husband of domestic violence.
Police has registered the case against the morning show host under sections 337-A, 506 and 324.
In a post shared on Facebook, Nomaika said she suffered multiple injuries after she was assaulted by the husband as she shared a couple of photos showing scares on his face and arm.
“I’ve been beaten almost to death by my own husband Ashfaque Ishaque Satti who picked me up from my mother’s house, and later assaulted me like an animal,” she said.
She claimed that he Police initially resisted against registering the case because of his husband’s continuous pressure on them and his influence in the media.
She said the FIR has been registered but no action has been taken against him so far. He asked people to support her to get justice.
“Nobody deserves to bear such brutality. Kindly reach out to me. I need your support and your help,” she concluded.
Social Media Slams Satti
NO EXCUSE JUSTIFIES A MAN TO TREAT A WOMAN LIKE THIS. It’s disheartening to see people questioning the importance of understanding both sides of a story when it comes to domestic violence.#DomesticAbuse #violence
