KARACHI – Model and actress Saheefa Jabbar said that nowadays scripts for dramas are being written in such a way that there is nothing new, and in every drama, women are shown receiving at least one slap.

She spoke openly about other issues including showbiz in a local TV show.

While discussing mental health, the actress said that the people do not take their mental illnesses seriously, and those who do, get no benefit from going to doctors.

Saheefa Jabbar said that in Pakistan, the fee of the doctors treating mental illnesses are high, with a fee of Rs3000 to Rs4000 per session and being asked to take three sessions every week, each session lasting one hour.

According to the actress, everyone cannot afford to pay three to four thousand rupees three to four times a week, so many people do not go to the doctors.

She said that in such a situation, it is the responsibility of the showbiz personalities, social media influencers, and celebrities to give people good advice, raise awareness about the mental health.

In response to a question, Saheefa Jabbar claimed that in the last four years, she had read more than 25 scripts and rejected all of them, none of which she found supportive of her work.

She argued that all the scripts had the same story and in every story, women were shown as forced and deprived, so she rejected the script.

Saheefa Jabbar further said that to date, in every drama, women are shown as forced, deprived, and enduring violence. In every drama, every woman has to endure at least one slap.

“Why it is necessary to show every woman receiving a slap in every drama? Can’t a script be written without slapping them?,” she questioned.
