Dr. Yasmin Rashid, the leader of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and former provincial health minister, took a dig at her political rival Pakistan Muslim League- Nawaz (PML-N), the party and its leaders must be ashmed of their conduct in general elections.
Speaking to outside outside of the Lahore anti-terrorism court, she accused the PML-N of looting public money and now attempting to steal the public mandate through election rigging and illicit practices.
Dr. Yasmin Rashid urged the PML-N to respect the public mandate, emphasizing that the nation had made its decision on the Feb 8 polls by voting for PTI-backed independent candidates. She issued a warning to the victorious PTI-backed independent candidates, advising them against joining any other party or forming alliances. She emphasized that the nation would neither forget nor forgive them if they betrayed the votes they received in the name of PTI. Dr. Yasmin Rashid also expressed appreciation and paid tribute to the loyal and enthusiastic supporters who voted for the party in an atmosphere of fear and injustice.
She highlighted the challenges faced by the party and its workers, deprivation of the electoral symbol, restrictions on election campaigning, and obstruction of the PTI’s path in various ways. She added, despite these obstacles, the public made efforts, identified the candidates’ electoral symbols, and cast their votes in favor of the PTI. Dr. Yasmin Rashid extended congratulations to the PTI workers who faced difficulties both inside and outside jails, acknowledged that their sacrifices and efforts would not be in vain.
