The University of Okara (UO), in collaboration with AM Welfare Society, Free & Fair Election Network (FAFEN) and Farmers Development Organization (FDO), hosted a seminar on Women Voters Awareness. A large number of students from Department of Political Science and Department of International Relations participated in the event.
Muhammad Abdullah from FAFEN delivered a detailed lecture on women’s right to vote, how women could register their votes and the process of vote casting.
Usman Shamim, Head, Department of Political Science, discussed women’s right to vote and its connection with gender equality. He also encouraged the students to conduct studies on women’s political participation.
Sharjeel Ahmed, Public Relation Officer, talked about the lack of political activism and awareness in women. He advised the female students to gain political acumen and form their independent political opinions instead of getting influenced by the male members of the society.
