ISLAMABAD – The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has predicted more rain and snowfall in Murree, Galyat and other tourist destinations in Pakistan during this week.
As per the synoptic situation, a westerly wave prevails over upper parts of Pakistan. It is likely to affect Pakistan’s southern and western parts from today evening/night.
Under these conditions, rain and snowfall are likely in Murree, Gilgit-Batistan, Kashmir and upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Thursday night.
Snowfall will likely affect transportation in Murree, Galyat, Malam Jabba, Kalam, Chitral, Dir, Hunza, Astore, Skardu, Gilgit. Tourists are advised to remain cautious.
Murree’s minimum temperature is expected to be between -02-00 degrees Celsius on Friday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, rain and snowfall occurred at places of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir and Murree during the last 24 hours.
Rainfall (mm): Balakot 33, Patan 23, Dir (Upper 23, Lower 05), Murree 22, Garhi Dupta 19, Malam Jabba 18, Kalam 17, Kotli 16, Cherat 12, Mir Khani 09, Drosh 06, Chitral 05, Astore 02, Bunji, Chilas and Gupis 01 each.
Snowfall (Inches): Malamjabba, Kalam and Murree 09 each, Astore 03 and Chitral 01.
In Murree, the temperature dropped to 2°C below freezing. Relative humidity during the morning was recorded at 76 per cent.
Tourists flocked to Malika-e-Kohsar, Galyat and other hill stations in the country to witness the heavy snowfall of the winter season. The massive influx of tourists caused a traffic mess in Murree and on the roads leading to Galyat and other tourist destinations.
