LAHORE – Monsoon rains with isolated heavy falls and gusty winds are predicted in Lahore and parts of Punjab on Monday night, Tuesday and Wednesday.
Per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), depression lies over west of Madhya Pradsh (India) and surroundings and moving westwards. Due to this depression, strong monsoon currents penetrate southern parts of Pakistan and will likely penetrate upper parts from evening/night. A trough of westerly wave also prevails over upper parts of the country.
Under these weather conditions, monsoon rains are predicted in Rawalpindi, Murree, Galliyat, Attock, Chakwal, Tala Gang, Jhelum, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Hafizabad, Wazirabad, Sahiwal, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Nankana Sahib, Chiniot, Faisalabad, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Sialkot, Narowal, Okara, Pakpattan, Kasur, Khushab, Sargodha, Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Dera Ghazi Khan, Rajanpur, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Muzaffargarh, Kot Addu, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar, Khanpur and Rahimyar Khan on Monday night and the next two days. Heavy falls may also occur at few places during the period.
Heavy rains may generate flash flooding in hill torrents of Dera Ghazi Khan. Landslides may disrupt traffic in Murree and Galliyat. Urban flooding may occur in low-lying areas of Islamabad/Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Lahore, Sheikhupura, Kasur, Sialkot, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan and Sahiwal from 26th (night) to 30th August.
Lahore’s maximum temperature will likely remain between 33-35°C on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Meanwhile, hot and humid weather prevailed in most districts of Punjab during the last 24 hours. However, isolated rain-wind/thundershowers occurred in northeastern Punjab and Potohar Region.

Bhakkar remained the hottest place in Punjab where the maximum temperature was recorded at 41°C. The maximum temperature in Kot Addu and Noorpur Thal was recorded at 40°C.
In Lahore, maximum temperature was recorded at 36°C. Relative humidity in the evening was recorded at 57 per cent.
