Calling for radical steps to protect workers from starvation because of the corona virus situation, Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Senator Sirajul Haq has proposed fixing the wages of a worker at par with the salary of the prime minister in keeping with the spirit of the Madina state.
The JI chief gave the suggestion while talking to National Labour Federation President Shamsur Rahman Swati, on the eve of the May Day. He also proposed reducing the difference between the lowest and the highest wages/salaries to only six in order to narrow down the difference between their livings.
Expressing total dissatisfaction over the labour laws and their application, Sirajul Haq said that Prime Minister Imran Khan had himself stated that almost eighty per cent of the workers were not registered. He also called for extending the jurisdiction of labour laws to several other sectors which were presently out of its hold.
He said that the weaknesses of the labour laws should be removed. He also demanded overhauling of the government machinery dealing with labour. He said that social security must be made compulsory to ensure that all the workers got education and health facilities.
JI Deputy Chief Liaqat Baloch has said that the Qadyanis were non-Muslims, and since they did not accept their position as decided in the Constitution and the law, their inclusion in any high-level state institution was dangerous for the nation and the country.
He said that the present government had been repeatedly trying to accommodate the Qadyanis which was undesirable. He urged the government not to play with the sentiments of the people in this regard.
Continuing, Liaqat Baloch said that India’s brutalities in Held Kashmir had increased many times. He said the people of Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir were raising their voice against India, but Prime Minister Imran Khan was simply issuing statements and tweets in this respect.
He said that voices against the injustice and human rights violations in India were now being raised all over the world. He said that evolving a national Kashmir policy could be helpful for the Kashmiris’ struggle for liberation.
Liaqat Baloch called for lowering petrol price to Rs 65 per liter in view of the fall in the world oil price for the benefit of the people especially agriculture and industry.
Welcoming Kuwait cabinet’s condemnation of the atrocities against the minorities including the Muslims going on in India, Jamaat e Islami’s Deputy chief Dr Farid Ahmed Piracha, has urged the other Muslims states to also discharge their responsibilities in this respect.
