A friend of Pakistan and popular with Pakistani business community, social circles, religious leaders and his own diplomatic corps, Ambassador of Uzbekistan Furqatbek Akhmed Sidiq is appointed Deputy Foreign Minister of his country.
President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has issued a decree in this regard and he will be leaving for Tashkent by the end of June this year to join his new assignment.
Ambassador Furqat who took charge of Uzbekistan embassy in Islamabad in 2015 did his best during past five years to promote Uzbekistan-Pakistan relations, trade and tourism, culture and energy cooperation and took them to new level of bilateral relations.
Known for his hospitality and keenness to interact with local political leaders, parliamentarians, artists, businessmen and industrialists, he is popular with all segments of Pakistani society.
Ambassador Furqat is also an active member of the diplomatic community and remained always in the front line whenever there was a cause of charity or common good or to promote Uzbekistan or Central Asian culture, cuisine or tourism potential.
Pakistan is my second home, said Ambassador Furqat while talking to Pakistan Observer on Friday. Pakistan is a great country and I enjoyed a lot while working here, he said.
