University of Management and Technology (UMT) School of Governance and Society (SGS) conducted a training workshop on Disaster Risk Reduction to prepare future faculty members of higher education institutions.
This training workshop was supported by the U.S Mission in Pakistan in collaboration with Pakistan – U.S Alumni Network (PUAN).
The training workshop hosted senior faculty members from University of the Punjab, Riphah International University, LCWU, UCP, UET, and ITU. The trainers were Dr. Ahmad Ali Gul, (Director of Center for Disaster Management, UMT), Ms. Shiaza Khwaja (Member Avoidable Death Networks) and Dr. Sana Khosa (LUMS). In the end, Dr. Rizwan Naseer (Secretary Provincial Emergency Department, Founder Rescue 1122) briefed the audience about Disaster Response: UN-INSARAG and Turkish Earthquake response by the Pakistan Rescue Team.
Participants of the workshop discussed community-based disaster risk management, disaster governance, and climate adaptation challenges. At the end Director SGS Dr. Aisha Azhar distributed certificates of participation to the trainees and souvenirs to the trainers/speakers and guests.
