Ulema role in raising awareness of Covid-19 sought

A meeting of Ulema was held under the chairmanship of Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheerul Islam at Commissioner Office Saidu Sharif on Wednesday.

The meeting was attended by eminent scholars from all the districts of Malakand Division.

The meeting took the Ulema into confidence on the situation arising out of the third wave of Covid19 in Malakand Division.

In his address to the meeting Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam said that the Ulema had played a great role in raising awareness during the first and second wave of Covid19 and therefore the Ulema meeting was reconvened to keep them updated on the situation.

He said that the number of corona patients in some districts of Malakand division was increasing alarmingly and in view of this situation public awareness campaign has been intensified.

Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam said that the role of scholars in terms of awareness is unquestionable, keeping in view the Islamic thoughts and the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH), the importance of the Islamic way of life in society needs to be highlighted.

He said that in order to attain better life, it is necessary to work through repentance and asking for forgiveness and turning to the principles of the Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH) for a healthy life.

Commissioner Malakand Division Syed Zaheer-ul-Islam said that collective and national unity must be given priority over mutual differences, personal preferences and interests.

He said that the scholars have to play their role in spreading awareness in the society about government initiatives and SOPs about Covid19.

Expressing their views at the meeting, the scholars expressed concern over the growing number of Covid19 patients and the burden on the health sector and assured full cooperation with the government machinery in this regard.

The scholars said that in this hour of trial, it is necessary to turn to Allah Almighty. Only by repenting and seeking forgiveness from sins, one can get rid of this epidemic.
