Two teenage accused abducted a four-year-old child and gangraped, the police confirmed on Friday.
According to police, the incident occurred in Lodhran where the suspects identified as 12-year-old Kamran and 13-year-old Tariq, abducted the minor girl when she was visiting her grandfather’s grave with her grandmother and uncle.
According to her parents, the suspects took the four-year-old girl to the nearby fields and gang-raped her. “When she lost consciousness, they fled from the scene,” the investigation officer informed.
The child has been moved to the Lodhran DHQ Hospital where the doctors have declared her to be in a critical condition. Her medical reports have corroborated the rape.
The police have registered a case under sections 376 and 377 of Pakistan Penal Code and arrested one of the suspects.
“The other suspect will also be arrested soon,” the district police officer (DPO) said while urging the citizens to play their role in overcoming and identifying such incidents.
The incidents of children being sexually assaulted in parts of the country have been reported frequently despite laws being in place to deal with such issues.
