KARACHI – Pakistanis are excitedly waiting to celebrate Eid Miladun Nabi on September 17, and there are reports of two holidays to mark the birth of Prophet Muhammad SAW as Muslims celebrate this day with great fervor and enthusiasm.
The development comes as Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori formally approached the federal government to declare two public holidays to mark the celebration of Eid Miladun Nabi, the birth anniversary of the Holy Prophet (PBUH).
Governor said he asked Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to designate September 16 and 17 (Rabiul Awal 11 and 12) as public holidays to mark this occasion. Tessori underscored key importance of this day for Muslims worldwide, emphasising the need for full-scale observance.
People are expecting a long weekend as Rabiul Awal 11 and 12 fall on Monday and Tuesday, respectively. If federal government approved Governor’s request, there will be long weekend across the country.
As of now, PM Shehbaz or federal government have not commented on the matter.
Eid Miladun Nabi Holidays 2024
Pakistani government announced September 17 as public holiday to celebrate Eid Milad. All schools, college, universities, markets and offices will remain closed on this day.
Punjab government has also declared a holiday for the same date. The Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee confirmed that the 12th of Rabiul Awwal, which marks this occasion, will be observed on September 17, following the unsuccessful moon sighting on Wednesday.
