Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry President Irfan Iqbal Sheikh has urged the Punjab governor to take immediate action to bring down water tariff as the businesses cannot continue their operations at such high cost of water.
In an SOS call to the governor, the LCCI president said that water is not only too high but rates in Faisalabad and Gujranwala are far low than Lahore. The letter, written to the governor, further stated that the industrialists of Lahore have approached us regarding issuance of excessive water bills at the rate of Rs 1 lac per cusec and disconnection notices in spite of your clear instructions reportedly to lower the water tariff for industrial purpose at Lahore.
