RAWALPINDI – At least three Pakistan Army soldiers were martyred and five Khwarij were killed as security forces successfully foiled an infiltration attempt by members of Fitna al Khwarij group at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Bajaur district, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province.
A statement issued by Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said there was a movement of the militant group near Pak-Afghan border as insurgents were trying to cross the border.
Thwarting the infiltration bid, Pakistani forces swiftly engaged militants, and foiled their infiltration attempt. As a result, five Khwarij from the Fitna al Khwarij group were killed, while four others sustained injuries.
During gun battle, three soldiers Naik Inayat Khan, Lance Naik Umer Hayat and Sepoy Waqar Khan valiantly sacrificed their lives in the line of duty.
Islamabad continues to repeatedly urge interim Afghan government to ensure effective border management on their side to prevent the use of Afghan territory by Khwarij for launching terrorist activities against Pakistan.
Security forces also reaffirmed commitment to defend the nation’s borders as sacrifices of brave strengthen nation’s resolve, ISPR said.
