RAWALPINDI – Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry condemned political interference in Operation Azb-e-Istehkam.

ISPR chief said Operation Azm-e-Istehkam was not a military operation rather it was a compact and comprehensive anti-terrorism campaign agreed through a national consensus.

Lieutenant Genral Ahmed Sharif said the operation is a broad counter-terrorism effort that has been unnecessarily politicized. He highlighted the high stakes involved and shared two cents on a lobby that opposed the revised National Action Plan.

He pointed out Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s statement clarifying that no kinetic operation requiring population displacement was planned. He mentioned that while over 22,000 operations have been carried out in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan, there are 22 courts set up to handle the detained terrorists.
