Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar said we also invite the opposition to join us in the fight against corona pandemic. The entire world has given in to this dreadful virus as coping with it is no more an easy task and situation in America is also before all of us.
He was talking to media after inaugurating Corona Telemedicine Centre at Fatima Jinnah Medical University (FJMU) on Wednesday. On this occasion, wife of Punjab Governor Begum Perveen Sarwar, FJMU Vice Chancellor Prof Amir Zaman Khan and others were also present.
He said Prime Minister Imran Khan is monitoring the anti-corona measures on daily basis. All political parties and philanthropists must also fulfill their responsibility of providing ration to the needy and the poor people, who’s livelihood and wages affected severely due to corona outbreak.
Responding to media persons’ questions, Punjab Governor Sarwar said, ‘We have launched first telemedicine centre at University of Health Sciences Lahore (UHS) on March 19, 2020 and today Alhamdulillah number of such centers reached up to 32 in Punjab including governor and chief minister Telemedicine centers’. He assured that more telemedicine centers would be established wherever needed, adding that so far 45,000 individuals have contacted these centers and received anti-corona advisories and guidelines from doctors due to which number of visiting people at hospitals has reduced substantially because now people are getting all knowledge about safety and precautionary steps against corona virus by dialing 0304-1112101 from their homes.
To another question, the governor said that this is not the time for opposition to resort to criticism but to get united and move jointly and I still today emphasize that 220 million Pakistanis will have to get united against coronavirus. The government has to take tough decisions and people must also support the government by following the safety measures to get them protected from corona.
He said that under the dynamic leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan a road map has been evolved for provision of free ration to the poor and government is taking effective steps in this regard. He advised the people to refrain from visiting hospitals and use telemedicine centers facility and stay homes so as to defeat the corona epidemic. Doctors, paramedical staff and health professionals fighting on front line are our heroes. More than 5,000 doctors and paramedics have offered their volunteer services at telemedicine centers.
On this occasion, FJMU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Amir Zaman Khan said that interviews of doctors and paramedics are being conducted for the telemedicine centers and so far 756 doctors and paramedics have been interviewed, asserting that they will perform duties at quarantine centers established for prevention from corona. Doctors are available for people’s guidance at our telemedicine centre round the clock.
