Chairperson Technical Education and Vocational Training Authority (TEVTA) Mamoon Jaffar Tarrar has vowed for upgrading technical education as per modern needs for the real development of the country.
He was addressing the inauguration ceremony of the Assistant Offset Printing Course in collaboration with the Pakistan Association of Printing and Graphic Arts Industry (PAPGAI) at Government College of Technology (GCT) Allama Iqbal Town Lahore.
President Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) Kashif Anwar, President PAPGAI Saad Haleem, Senior DG TEVTA Akhtar Abbas Bharwana, Principal GCT and other officials were present on occasion.
While addressing on occasion Chairperson TEVTA Mamoon Jaffar Tarrar said that this pilot project of a 6-month course fulfill the needs of the printing industry. The first batch of 25 students will also get a stipend of Rs 10,000 each.
He stated that we are updating our courses to per modern needs. All of us have to work together for the progress of Pakistan and linkages between industry and TEVTA is crucial in this regard.
Chairperson added that demand-driven courses are being started at TEVTA to get a skilled workforce and youth will be trained for every industry. Sooner more courses will be offered in other fields as well, he added.
President LCCI Kashif Anwar said that we need to work on an emergency basis to enhance our exports which is only possible by the industry’s progress and that this is directly linked with skilled Labour.
He added that Government should remove the ban on imports of modern machinery being used in industries.
President PAPGAI Saad Haleem said that the printing industry was looking for certified skilled labour for a long time and this course will fulfil all needs of the industry. He said that the printing industry has a share of Rs 8 billion in the country’s economy.
