The Special Anti-Terrorism Court granted bail to 40 Tehreek-e-Labaik activists who were arrested a couple of weeks back and ordered their release on Monday. The accused were asked to submit surety bonds worth Rs100,000 each for their release.
The Tehreek-e-Labaik’s lawyers had filed post-arrest bail applications for 40 workers in the court. Tehreek-e-Labaik lawyers including Malik Saleem Khokhar and Asri Chaudhry argued in the case. It is worth mentioning here that 19 accused were involved in the cases of Qila Gujar Singh police station while other accused were booked by the Islampura and Shahdara police stations.
The activists granted bail included: Noman Tariq, Usman Shahid, Mohammad Riaz, Mohammad Iqbal, Abid Hussain, Ikram-ul-Haq, Abid Hussain Shehzad Khan, Syed Nizam Ahmed, Mohammad Hassan, Mohammad Sadiq and others.
Meanwhile, Additional District and Sessions Judge Shabriz Akhtar Raja adjourned the hearing of the murder case of former Assistant Advocate General Shahbaz Tatla till November 18 after recording statements of two witnesses.
The Naseerabad Police has registered a case against three accused including former SSP Mafkhar Adeel on charges of murder of former Punjab Advocate General Shahbaz Tatla. All the three accused including SSP Mukhfar Adeel were produced in the court.
During hearing two prosecution witnesses recorded their statements after which the court directed the defence counsel to cross-examine the two witnesses.
The Police have already dismissed SSP Mafkhar Adeel from service in Shahbaz Tala murder case.
