The Shaukat Khanum Memorial Cancer Hospital and Research Centre (SKMCH&RC) began vaccination of its frontline healthcare professionals against Covid-19. A special Covid-19 vaccination camp has been installed outside the main hospital building where frontline healthcare professionals, who are directly working with Covid-19 patients, are being administered the vaccine.

Chief Medical Officer/acting CEO of Shaukat Khanum Hospital, Dr. Muhammed Aasim Yusuf said that the Hospital has been provided with 300 dozes of Sinopharm vaccine by the Government of Pakistan. This type of vaccine can only be administered to people below the age of sixty years. Initially, we are vaccinating our frontline workers from the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), some doctors from the medical field, and those technologists who are fighting on the front line against the pandemic. Dr. Aasim further added that we will also need vaccines for other healthcare staff and the immunocompromised cancer patients as well.
