LAHORE—The Lahore Development Authority (LDA) sealed 168 illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulter premises in different localities of Lahore on Thursday.
LDA’s Town Planning Wing sealed 60 buildings on Johar Town’s Khayaban-e-Firdousi, 25 in Faisal Town and Gulberg, 51 in Shah Jamal, Shadman and Samanabad, and 32 in Allama Iqbal Town for illegal commercial use and nonpayment of commercialisation fees.
The sealed premises include Sindh Bank, Temptations, Ghani Shinwari, Café Daastan, Gana Khana, Stars Academy, private schools, pharmacies, grocery stores, food outlets, offices and other businesses.
LDA Chief Town Planner I Assad-uz-Zaman and Chief Town Planner II Azhar Ali supervised the operations, which were carried out by the enforcement teams with the help of the Police.
As per the LDA officials, several notices were served to the owners of these buildings before carrying out the operations.
LDA Director General Tahir Farooq has directed continuing indiscriminate operations against violation of building/parking bylaws, illegal commercial buildings and commercialisation fee defaulters across Lahore.
