A delegation of foreign Sikh community, led by writer, columnist and former Director General of Punjab Institute of Language and Culture (PILAC), Dr. Saghra Sadaf, met Governor Punjab Muhammad BalighurRehman here Saturday at Governor House Lahore. Speaking on the occasion, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rahman said that people to people contact is very important in bringing different people of the world closer to each other. He said that the well-being of humanity in the world is related to peace . Governor Punjab said that in today’s materialistic era, there is a dire need to foster mutual tolerance, brotherhood, and love. He said that we have to promote love and reduce hatred in society. Governor Punjab said that the freedom and peace with which the minorities are living in Pakistan is a bright example for the people living in this region. Governor Punjab said that atrocities on innocent citizens, especially women and children in Palestine, are very painful. He said that the whole world should raise voice to stop the ongoing atrocities in Palestine. On this occasion, Dr. SaghraSadaf said that such visits help in improving the image of Pakistan at the international level. The delegation thanked Governor Punjab for inviting them to Governor House Lahore. The members of the delegation said that Pakistanis are hospitable and peace-loving. They said that they are taking back beautiful memories from here. They further stated that efforts should be made for the promotion of Punjabi language. Earlier, the Governor of Punjab welcomed the delegation to the Governor’s House and informed them about the historical significance the Governor’s House Lahore. The delegation comprised members of the Sikh community from America and Canada. Ashok Singh Bhaura, Dr. Gurpreet Dhuga, Jitendra Toor, Kulwant Kaur and Surinder Singh among others were present in the meeting.
Furthermore, Governor Punjab Muhammad Balighur Rehman attended a speech competition organized by the Idara i Nazria Pakistan in connection with the Quaid-e-Azam Day.
Speaking on the occasion, Punjab Governor Muhammad BalighurRahman said that Quaid-e-Azam Muhammad Ali Jin-nah was a wise and far-sighted leader. He said that due to the struggle of our ancestors under the leadership of Quaid-e-Azam, we are living in a free country. He said Quaid-e-Azam was a truthful person, and his opponents also testified to that. Governor Punjab said that Quaid-e-Azam was a great leader who always upheld the rule of law. He said that the establishment of a separate Islamic state on the basis of the two-nation theory was a correct and far-sighted decision of our elders.
