Shan Masood appointed Pakistan Test captain; Shaheen Afridi to lead T20 format

Pakistan Cricket Board has made several changes in national squads after Babar Azam stepped down from the role and now Shan Masood has been appointed Pakistan Test captain while Shaheen Afridi appointed as Pakistan’s captain in White Ball cricket.

Shan Masood gets the opportunity to lead Green Shirts and he is doing good as captain in the red-ball format. He has been made skipped for Australia and New Zealand tour.

The 34-year-old played 30 Tests in which he scored 1,597 runs, including four hundreds and seven half-tons.

The player has been picked for the role till the end of ICC World Test Championship 2023-25. Meanwhile, all eyes will be on his maiden assignment as skipper to lead three-match Test series against Kagaroos starting next month.

In a similar development, key pacer Shaheen Shah Afridi will lead Pakistan Team in T20I format and his first assignment as skipper will be the 5-match T20I series in New Zealand in January next year.

Afridi has 64 wickets in 52 T20Is under his belt. He earlier led Lahore Qalandars in PSL and has helped the side win the tournament twice in two years.
