Man moves consumer court against marriage hall owner
A man filed a petition in a consumer court in Lahore on Wednesday in which he claimed around Rs16 million in damages from the owner of a marriage hall for serving ‘qulfa’ ice cream of poor quality at a wedding ceremony.
Judge Muhammad Wasim Afzal summoned the owner of the Hamsafar Marriage Hall on November 15.
The consumer said in the petition that ‘substandard’ qulfa was served at both wedding and Walima ceremonies due to which nine children fell sick, which brought embarrassment to him and his family.
The petitioner further said that the marriage hall owner charged Rs22,000 from him for serving what he claimed a ‘quality qulfa’ but served qulfa of inferior quality instead.
Meanwhile, the City Police on Wednesday arrested a man who had been sexually abusing his minor daughter for the past two years after his wife left him.
According to the Iqbal Town Police, the man lived in the house with his two minor children, a boy of five and a girl of 14, since his ex-wife left them four years ago.
He had been allegedly molesting his minor daughter for the past two years which was reported to the police by the victim’s maternal grandmother. Police said that a case has been registered on the complaint of victim’s grandmother.
and the accused has been arrested. The police have launched further investigation and a medical check-up of the victim will be carried out.
