A delegation of Rice Exporters Association called on Punjab Governor Chaudhry Sarwar and handed him over eight ventilators and 150 ton of rice as donation for poor families affected by corona crisis.
According to details, Lahore Rice Exporters Association’s Chief Shahjahan Malik, Convener Pir Nazim Shah and General Secretary Kashif-ur-Rehman met with Governor Chaudhry Sarwar. On this occasion, APTMA group leader Gohar Ejaz, King Edward Medical University (KEMU) Vice Chancellor Prof Khalid Masood and UHS Vice Chancellor Dr Javed Akram were also present.
Talking to media after the meeting, the governor said, ‘We are thankful to Rice Exporters Association and their other friends for donating ventilators and rice for the needy in this time of difficulty’. These ventilators, he said, will be provided to various hospitals of Lahore including Jinnah and Mayo. Role and contribution of philanthropists and business community in the war against corona is highly commendable.
No doubt, corona pandemic is spreading fast with every passing day. Tens of thousands of families in Pakistan are facing financial constraints in the prevailing situation due to coronavirus therefore all segments of society will also have to fulfill their responsibility by advocating government’s efforts and contributing to the maximum for support and help of the affected families. When we work together, we will be able to provide ration to every poor as well as take even better measures to save the people from corona pandemic.
He said, ‘We in collaboration with Punjab Development Network have started supply of ration to 300,000 deserving families and I am also monitoring the whole matter in this regard on daily basis’.
Rice Exporters Association’s Chief Shahjahan Malik, Convener Pir Nazim Shah and General Secretary Kashif-ur-Rehman said that Pakistan’s economy is suffering huge losses due to the situation created by coronavirus and despite all odds, we are standing with the poor and affected families. We are aware that today Pakistan needs ventilators the more that is why we have donated these, and in addition to this, we are also handing over rice and other edibles to Punjab Governor.
Insha Allah, we will continue to stand by the poor families.
