Wife of Punjab Governor and Sarwar Foundation Vice-Chair Begum Perveen Sarwar has said that we are providing clean drinking water to 2 million people daily through Sarwar Foundation’s filtration plants.
Talking to the media at Sarwar Foundation Office on Saturday, she said that today, Sarwar Foundation has become the largest provider of clean drinking water to people in Pakistan. The Sarwar Foundation has so far provided rations to 60,000 poor families in Punjab and KPK, including areas close to the LOC in Azad Kashmir.
Begum Perveen Sarwar said, Sarwar Foundation has recently inaugurated three water filtration plants in Lahore in DC Office, IG Office and Lahore Press Club in one month. Five plants also have been inaugurated in Toba Tek Singh by collaboration of Sarwar Foundation with Al-Khair Foundation which will provide clean drinking water to fifty thousand people daily.
All the water filtration plants inaugurated by Sarwar Foundation are working well. Food ration boxes have been distributed in Azad Kashmir, Punjab and KP have been delivered at doorsteps of most deserving people. 60 thousand families were provided ration to feed a family of five for a month that is 27 million meals.
She said Punjab Governor Ch Sarwar has invited all the organisations to join hands and work in collaboration under Punjab Development Network (PDN). As Patron of PDN, Ch Sarwar launched ‘acknowledging corona heroes’ events during Covid-19 to recognise the smallest of contribution made by organisations or individuals.
She further said 64 organisations working under Punjab Development Network have distributed 1.1 million ration bags. Around 46,000 prisoners and 465 staff members in Punjab were provided bathing soaps, laundry soaps, masks and sanitisers.
The governor said, ‘We will not let America and Germany like situation happen in Pakistan. There is no possibility of neglecting coronavirus, even for a single second, due to impending coronavirus crisis in Pakistan. We all will have to play a role in fighting Covid-19 in Pakistan. I am requesting again and again to the people to follow precautionary measures in letter and spirit and also to stay at home. We will not leave families of coronavirus martyrs alone in their difficult time. He said that coronavirus is increasing day by day in Pakistan. Mortality rate in Pakistan is also increasing and it is the highest in South Asia. Our coronavirus cases have surpassed China in numbers. We have only single option which is strictly implementing coronavirus SOPs and we will have no other option than to re-impose lockdown if coronavirus cases surge continues in Pakistan. We can’t allow horrific scenario like USA and Germany to happen in Pakistan.
Meanwhile, Governor House Spokesperson issued a statement that Chaudhry Sarwar has taken stern notice of the case of a woman being harassed by a doctor of Governor House. Doctor has been sacked immediately. The governor has also directed the CCPO to proceed as per law.
