Pakistan is all set for its delayed national elections on February 8 2024, and people were excited to see a clash between PML-N Maryam Nawaz and PTI activist Sanam Javed.
As many called it a dogfight between rival candidates, PTI social media star, Sanam Javed, announced her withdrawal from upcoming general elections as her legal challenges mount.
She made the announcement as police arrested her in another terrorism case.
Sanam was said to give a tough time to PML-N Chief Organiser Maryam Nawaz who is contesting the elections from Lahore – a stronghold of her party.
Sanam’s sister, Falak Javed said that her sister had withdrawn her candidacy in favour of an independent candidate, Mian Shahzad Farooq. She said that Farooq’s election campaign would be “considered as her sister’s campaign”.
She also expressed hope that Sanam Javed would soon be “seen in the National Assembly”.
During Monday’s proceeding, Sanam’s legal team highlighted that she remained in jail for more than 6 months in a terror case. Deputy Prosecutor argued that PTI activist incited masses to commit arson on May 9 after Imran Khan’s arrest.
The PTI activist with huge fan following spent several months in jail as she is facing charges related to multiple terror cases.
A known face of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf also faced accusations of assaulting cops, causing injuries, contributing to a law-and-order situation, and attacks on police.
