Says 44,000 acre land selected in first phase of game-changer project

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar on Tuesday declared that Ravi Riverfront Urban Development (RRUD) Project is a unique one in the world to be built on the bank of a river, saying that the project would turn out to be a game-changer, leading to open up new vistas of development and prosperity.
Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar was chairing a meeting regarding Ravi Riverfront Urban Development Authority wherein he reviewed progress on the project.
The CM expressed satisfaction on the progress made on the project and directed to speed-up the pace of work further.
The CM said in the first phase of Ravi River-Front Urban Development Project, 44 thousands acre land has been selected and an industrial zone on 6 thousands acre of land would also be established beside construction of three barrages having the storage capacity of 6 lakhs cusec water.
The Chief Minister said the project would be eco-friendly as 60 lakhs samplings would also be planted which would help to significantly reduce environmental pollution.
The Chief Minister further directed to complete the land acquisition work as soon as possible keeping in view all the rules and regulations.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the project would have a great attraction for foreign investment and also to be showcased in Dubai Expo. Chief Executive Officer Ravi Urban Development Authority Imran Amin briefed about the progress and land acquisition matters of the project.
Provincial Minister Housing Asad Khokhar, Chief Secretary, SMBR, Secretary Housing, Chairman P&D, Principal Secretary to CM, Secretary Finance, Commissioner Lahore Division, Head of Special Monitoring Unit and other relevant officers attended the meeting.
Meanwhile, Air Officer Commanding, Central Air Command of PAF, Air Vice Marshal Zafar Aslam called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at his office on Tuesday.
The CM praised the internationally acknowledged professional skills of the PAF and termed it the national pride.
The government appreciates the PAF’s strong role in social development as educational institutions were being established in the province in collaboration with the Pakistan Air Force, he noted.
The PAF’s important role in national development and protection of aerial boundaries is admirable and the nation is proud of the PAF falcons, the CM concluded.
Meanwhile, MPA Salman Naeem called on Chief Minister Usman Buzdar at his office to apprise him about the constituency related problems.
While assuring to solve public problems on a priority basis, the CM asserted that the 360 billion district development package will ensure composite development.
While the past rulers neglected every backward district, including that of the south Punjab districts, the incumbent government instated well-planned projects according to the needs and demands of the people, he stated.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Usman Buzdar directed the Wasa and field administration to ensure disposal of rainwater from low-lying areas and reiterated that no negligence will be tolerated.
He directed the Wasa, administrative staff and traffic police to remain available in the field, adding that Rescue-1122 and PDMA should also be fully vigilant to deal with any untoward situation.
