LAHORE – National team’s White-ball Captain Mohammad Rizwan has faced criticism from Young Indian wicketkeeper for ‘excessive appeals’.
During a conversation with umpire Anil Chaudhary, who was performing umpiring duties in the Indian Premier League (IPL), young Indian wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan targeted the Pakistani captain while discussing the behavior of umpires.
During a practice session of the franchise team, umpire Anil Chaudhary asked, “You’ve become quite smart! You’ve played many matches under my umpiring, now you’ve grown up, and you only appeal when necessary, whereas earlier you used to appeal a lot. How did this change happen?”
To which Ishan Kishan replied, “I think umpires have become more alert now. If you appeal repeatedly, they end up giving not-out decisions even for an out. It’s better to appeal once at the right time so you have confidence that the decision is correct,”.
He added, “If I appeal behind the stumps like Mohammad Rizwan does, you guys won’t give him out,”.
Ishan Kishan further said, “To be honest, we are happy to see some umpires in matches but there is always room for improvement,”.
It may be mentioned here that this comment from the emerging Ishan Kishan came at a time when Mohammad Rizwan was criticized for making excessive appeals in recent matches.
On the other hand, the fans criticized Ishan Kishan and pointed out that he hasn’t been in cricket long enough to criticize Rizwan in this manner.
