KARACHI – The Additional District and Sessions Judge Central has issued notices to a YouTuber and others for allegedly disrespecting “Namaz” on social media.
The notice was issued on a petitioned filed by Advocate Riaz Ali Solangi against the social media personality, who is followed by over five million people on YouTube.
The petitioner argued that Rajab Butt had disrespected Islamic symbols, causing offense to Muslims, Express reported.
The court issued notices to the YouTuber Rajab Butt and others. The court also directed the SHO of the Haideri police station to submit a report.
The court remarked that the SHO should submit the investigative report on this matter by January 13.
The development comes days after he secured a bail in a case related to illegal possession of a lion cub, which was gifted to him by a friend on his wedding.
Judicial Magistrate Kashif Pasha approved bail, directing Butt to submit surety bonds worth Rs50,000. Meanwhile, lion cub was seized from Rajab Butt’s custody has been transferred to Lahore Safari Zoo.
The decision regarding future of lion will be made by court in future proceedings. Until then, the Wildlife Department will maintain custody of the animal.
Butt, who amassed millions of followers, was held on Sunday after raid by the police and the Punjab Wildlife Department uncovered a lion cub and unlicensed weapons at his home. He claimed the lion cub was a wedding gift from a friend, denying any wildlife law violations.
Despite his defense, a case was filed against him, as social media users called for animal cruelty. Meanwhile, other TikTokers defended Rajab in a blog post, claiming he was wrongfully implicated.
