A banking court in Lahore on Friday directed the authorities concerned to place the names of the cousins of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif on the Exit Control List (ECL).

The court issued the directives after cousins of PML-N supermo Nawaz Sharif including Shahid Shafi, Tariq Shafi, Javed Shafi, Ali Pervaiz and Ibrahim Tariq failed to appear in court.

The court further directed the authorities to block passports and national identity cards the four accused.

“The accused were served with summons time and again but they didn’t appear and flew abroad instead,” the judge noted.

A lawyer, who represented different banks, stated that the case was instituted against the accused persons for allegedly defaulting on loans worth Rs700 million obtained for Ittefaq and Kashmir sugar mills.

It was submitted that the former premier’s cousins were served multiple notices by the banks to pay back the loan but to no avail. The court, therefore, was requested to order action against them as per relevant laws.

Meanwhile, four persons died when a speeding car collided with a trailer on motorway here on Friday.

According to detail, a car with four people onboard travelling from Islamabad to Shorkot got out of control due to over speeding and rammed into a trailer near Thekriwala, Faisalabad.

All the four car riders identified as: Abdullah, Umer Daraz, Safdar and Hussain Raza were killed on the spot in the accident.

The bodies were shifted to hospital where they were handed over to heirs after legal formalities.
