Punjab departments asked to review existing laws

LAHORE: Punjab Minister for Law, Parliamentary Affairs and Social Welfare Raja Basharat has said that all the departments of the Punjab government should make necessary amendments in the light of the judgment of the Supreme Court by reviewing their existing laws, rules and regulations.
He was chairing a meeting of the CM committee formed to implement Supreme Court’s decision in Mustafa Impex case 2016, at the Civil Secretariat on Wednesday. Board of Revenue senior member, additional chief secretary, Secretary Services, Secretary Law, Secretary P&D and Secretary Local Government were also present on the occasion. The meeting reviewed the progress made on the said Supreme Court’s decision.
Raja Bashart directed the heads of all the departments to submit the required amendments to the existing rules of business and regulations in the light of the said decision within 15 days. “We will endeavor to bring about legal amendments that will increase transparency and accelerate government enforcement,” he said. He said that Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar also wanted to improve the good governance by making necessary amendments in government laws.
