KARACHI – Sindh government has announced August 20 as a public holiday on the occasion of Urs of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai for all offices, autonomous, and semi-autonomous bodies, and corporations.
A notification issued by Sindh authorities said there will be a public holiday on August 20 (Tuesday) during Urs of Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai.

It said all government offices, autonomous and semi-autonomous bodies, corporations, and local councils in Sindh will be closed on Tuesday.
Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai was a famous Sufi poet and saint from Sindh. Bhittai’s influential poetry, compiled in Shah Jo Risalo, explores spiritual themes and local folklore.
He is celebrated for his contributions to Sindhi literature and mysticism, his Urs, marking his death, is a major event at his shrine in Bhit Shah, attracting numerous devotees. His work remains a significant cultural and spiritual influence in the region.
