ISLAMABAD – Pakistan’s election frenzy continues, with Senate elections slated to be held on April 2.
Ahead of elections, embattled Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) founding chairman approved party’s candidates for elections in upper house of parliament.
Khan, who remained in jail from August last year, picked Murad Saeed, Faisal Javed, Mirza Muhammad Afridi, Irfan Saleem, Khurram Zeeshan and Azhar Mashwani from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s Senate general seats.
Meanwhile, Khan’s stalwart Azam Swati and Irshad Hussain will party candidates for Senate technocrat seats from KP, while Ayesha Banu and Rubina Naz will contest on reserved seats.
In Punjab, Hamid Khan and Zulfi Bukhari are PTI’s candidates for general seats. Incarcerated politician Dr Yasmin Rashid and activist Sanam Javed will party’s candidates for technocrat and women-reserved seats from Punjab.

Senate elections on 48 vacant seats will be held on April 2 in National Assembly, Senate, and the four provincial legislatures.
As per the schedule shared by electoral watchdog, candidates can file their nomination papers till Saturday.
March 19 has been fixed for scrutiny of nomination papers, while a revised list of the candidates will be issued on March 26th while the candidates can withdraw their nomination papers by 27th March.
