In a bid to address the pressing issues surrounding quality education, a seminar was conducted at Degree College Wana in South Waziristan Lower on Friday. The event, attended by representatives from various schools of thought, aimed to shed light on the role of each stakeholder in ensuring the success of the college.

Professor Abdul Qadoos and Principal Amir Nawaz spearheaded the seminar, presenting the college’s agenda and discussing its developmental challenges. Emphasizing severe student shortages and a lack of community support, both urged participants to identify shortcomings and propose solutions collaboratively.

Highlighting the vast campus spanning three hundred canals of land, the college administration noted the presence of 71 staff, including 30 teaching professionals. However, despite these resources, they lamented the dismal attendance of students in regular classes post-admission.

Principal Amir Nawaz expressed their repeated attempts to establish consistent class attendance, pointing out the need for collective efforts to overcome these challenges. Political and social personalities, along with school principals, echoed the sentiment that quality education is crucial for addressing broader societal issues.

Malik Shehryar Wazir emphasized the urgency of tackling the problems faced by Government Degree College Wana and called for a united front. Students, on the other hand, revealed that only a handful are attending classes regularly, citing issues such as the lack of hostel facilities, transportation, and an inadequate environment.

Additional Deputy Commissioner South Waziristan Lower, Kashmir Khan, and District Police Officer Farman Ullah addressed the seminar, underscoring the importance of collaborative efforts to transform Government Degree College Wana into an exemplary institution.

Despite the availability of lecturers for every subject, Professor Sawar Khan noted the persistent challenge of low student attendance. Students, meanwhile, conveyed their demands for improved facilities and a conducive environment, alleging a lack of responsiveness from both the government and college administration.

The seminar concluded with a call for immediate action to address the multifaceted challenges facing Government Degree College Wana, reiterating the commitment to providing quality education to the young generation in the region.
