KARACHI – Seasoned politician Murad Ali Shah has been nominated as candidate for chief minister slot.
Party Chairman Bilawal Bhutto announced Shah’s name during a meeting. PPP stalwart, an engineer by profession, is set to become Sindh chief minister for the third time.
Meanwhile, the party picked other stalwarts Awais Qadir Shah and Anthony Naveed as speaker and deputy speaker of the Sindh Assembly.
In the presser, the PPP chairman commended Agha Siraj Durrani’s role as speaker of the provincial assembly, and hoped that new representatives would address the needs and aspirations of Sindhis.
At the presser, Bilawal Bhutto also cleared that his party has not requested for any ministries from federal government, underscoring PPP’s dedication to enhance education, and health.
Murad Ali Shah
Murad Ali Shah served as Chief Minister of Sindh twice. He is a structural engineer who served as the 28th and 29th Chief Minister. His father, Syed Abdullah Ali Shah also served as Sindh CM.
Murad graduated from NED University of Engineering and Technology, and attended Stanford University in California where he completed his masters in structural engineering.
He started his career as water engineer at Water and Power Development Authority and later joined Port Qasim Authority. The seasoned politician also served in Citibank and in a Gulf Investment Corporation in Middle East.
He made entry in politics in 2002 and became a MPA from PS-77 Jamshoro. He again elected to Sindh Assembly in 2008 as became Minister for Irrigation, finance minister, and finally made it to CM office.
