The January Nationwide (NID) Polio vaccination campaign is scheduled to be conducted from January 8th – 12th January 2024 in all provinces and regions of the country.However, in three districts of South KP, namely Lakki Marwat, South Waziristan Upper, and South Waziristan Lower, the campaign is scheduled for January 15 – 19.A total of 44.35 million under five children will be targeted for vaccination during campaign including 22.6 million children in Punjab,10.3 million children in Sindh, 7.5 million children in KP, 2.6 millionchildren in Balochistan, 0.72 million children in AJK, 0.28 million children in GB and 0.42 million children in Islamabad.
It will be a 3 days campaign + 2 days catch up in general (in mobile team areas) and 5 days campaign + 2 days catch up in areas implementing the Community Based Vaccination and Special Mobile Team approach. Over 400,000 front line Polio workers will participate in the campaign.As we are very close to polio eradication and most parts of Pakistan are polio free but still some areas have circulation of wild polio virus.Due to cooperation of parents their were few cases of polio in 2023. But we need to make sure that every child of Pakistan stays safe.
