As per directions of Inspector General of Police Shoaib Dastagir, police teams in all the districts are strictly ensuring the implementation of instructions issued by Punjab government so that the precious lives of the citizens may be saved.
Likewise, police teams along with doctors are on the front line and taking steps under the supervision of DPOs to prevent from coronavirus besides taking legal actions against hoarders under hoarding act. Such callous hoarders are being arrested for selling equipments under undue profit.
According to the details, police since its operation since March 16 established 1490 pickets where 87935 vehicles and 194698 motorcycles have been checked. On these police pickets among 424999 citizens 268894 have been released on warning.
Surety bonds have been taken from 19205 citizens, whereas in violation of section 144, 11153 FIRs have been registered and 19464 citizens have been arrested and among them 9909 citizens have been released on bail whereas actions have been taken against 2030 shops and 259 restaurants.
Likewise, 263 cases have been registered against hoarding and legal action has been taken against 309 violators in this regard whereas 235 accused have been arrested and 105 accused have been released on bail.
During the 23 days, police teams provided awareness to 78973 citizens and also provided help to 82844 citizens.
Moreover, during last day, 1490 pickets have been established in the province where 6361 vehicles and 14570 motorcycles have been checked. Among 29844 citizens checked on police pickets, 18655 citizens have been released on warning. Surety bonds have been taken from 1500 citizens.
1045 accused have been arrested whereas 289 accused took bail. Collectively, 679 FIRs have been registered in which 1401 accused have been nominated whereas action has been taken against 90 shops and 33 restaurants.
Similarly, during 24 hours action against hoarding, 5 cases have been registered and legal action has been taken against 7 accused. Police teams during duty gave awareness of Corona to 6342 citizens and provided help to 2897 citizens.
IG Shoaib Dastagir stressed upon regional and district police chiefs to speed up the actions against the violators of law and directed to continue the actions against those who don’t follow the directions of government and also submit the progress report of crackdown to Central police office on daily basis. He further said that officers an officials deputed in field should follow and ensure the precautionary measures of pandemic coronavirus and take steps along with other government departments to counter this virus and help out the citizens.
