LAHORE –  Under the amended NAB law, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shehbaz on Tuesday sought relief in the Ramzan Sugar Mills reference.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his son Hamza Shahbaz moved the pleas through their lawyer and filed their submissions regarding the jurisdiction of the court seized with the hearing of the said case.

The said that under the new NAB law, the accountability court did not have the authority to hear the reference.

They asked the court to send the reference back to the Chairman of NAB.

After the plea, the court directed the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to submit reply by October 11 in this regard.

The court also allowed a request for a one-day exemption from attendance for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s representative, Anwar Hussain, appeared to fulfill the attendance requirement.
