PESHAWAR – Cold and dry weather prevailed in most districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday with experts predicting the prevailing harsh weather conditions to persist during the next couple of days.
Mercury dropped to 03 degrees Celsius in Peshawar, making Friday the coldest day of this winter season.
Relative humidity in the morning was recorded at 83 per cent.
Kalam remained the coldest place in the province where mercury dropped 04 C below freezing.
Moderate to dense fog continued to disturb normal vehicular movement in the plains of the province.
As per the Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD), continental air prevails over most parts of Pakistan.
A shallow westerly wave is likely to enter the western parts of the country tonight.
Under these conditions, mainly cold and dry weather is expected in Peshawar and most parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Friday evening/night and during the weekend.
Freezing and cloudy weather is likely in upper districts.
Light rain/drizzle is likely in Chitral and its surroundings during the evening/night.
Fog is likely to persist in Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Nowshera, Peshawar and Dera Ismail Khan during morning and night hours.
Less visibility will affect normal vehicular flow on inter and intra-city roads.
In Peshawar, the minimum temperature will likely remain between 03-05 C on Saturday and Sunday.
