LAHORE – State Bank of Pakistan is planning to unveil new currency notes of all denominations with new designs next year to improve security features, and it already created controversy.

A post shared by a social media account propelled false and misleading claims about the upcoming designs of Rs1,000. The post features doctored pictures of the currency, showing a cross symbol related to Dajjal – an evil figure. It also called out for boycotting new currency under Jewish control.

As several social media users shared the posts without confirming, these posts turned out to be unfounded. The actual design of Rs1,000 note includes various national symbols and security features but does not include any religious signs.

The misleading posts shared online also claimed that State Bank is controlled by Jewish interests. State Bank of Pakistan is Pakistani government institution, managed independently by local authorities without external or religious influence.

The new posts were said to incite fear and mistrust towards the Pakistani currency and state institutions by manipulating religious beliefs and fabricating false accusations.

As people shared the posts, people are urged to verify information from reliable sources before sharing such misleading and inciting post. Such misinformation can cause unnecessary panic and confusion. Social media users are advised to critically assess the content they encounter and refrain from disseminating unverified or misleading information.

State Bank officials are encouraging people to rely on official statements from State Bank and trusted news outlets for accurate information regarding currency and financial matter.
