ISLAMABAD – Another worrisome news surface about Solar panels and Net Metering as government is working to axe rates by half.
Sources familiar with development said Ministry of Energy is working on new solarization policy. Proposed changes include a 50perdent reduction in net metering electricity rates, and power rates will be lowered to Rs11 from Rs22.
The policy will specify net metering allocation for each grid, ensuring fair distribution of solar energy resources. With the recent move, Power Ministry seeking federal cabinet approval for implementation, highlighting its commitment to sustainable energy practices.
The recent drop in solar consumers comes after huge increase in growing popularity of solar enery. In current circumstances, challenges persist, such as Rs110 billion annual burden on on-grid consumers due to net metering arrangements.
Proposals were impose tax on solar panel installers have not been confirmed, as there is currently no fixed tax on solar power in the country.
