Pakistan Super League 2024 Season 09 started with a match at Gaddafi Stadium, the first match was between Lahore Qalandar and Islamabad United teams. Under the supervision of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police ensured strict security and traffic arrangements for the match at Gaddafi Stadium Lahore, full security was provided to local and foreign players, officials, and cricket fans.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that the police are in contact with all institutions including the Pakistan Cricket Board, district administration, security agencies, Punjab Police will ensure that all matches are held in a peaceful and safe environment. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that more than 20,000 officers and officials will perform security duties on matches in Punjab, excellent & traffic foolproof measures will be ensured during the matches. IG Punjab said that search, sweep, combing and intelligence-based operations are going on around the player’s residence, routes and stadium. With the help of cameras of Safe Cities Authority, monitoring of stadiums, hotels and the route of teams is being ensured. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that lady police officers have been deployed for security and checking of women cricket fans.
Implementation of traffic plan is being ensured to ensure uninterrupted flow of traffic, adequate parking. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit, Elite Force teams are ensuring effective patrolling during the matches. IG Punjab directed that the staff posted at the entrances and exits of the stadiums should treat the citizens with good manners, Traffic advisory has been issued in the respective districts before the matches for the awareness of the citizens, to maintain the traffic flow. Fans should follow the instructions of Punjab Police to enjoy cricket matches in a safe environment. Spokesman Punjab Police said that Pakistan Super League 2024 season 09 will have a total of 23 matches in Punjab. 09 matches will be played in Lahore, 05 in Multan and 09 matches will be played in Rawalpindi.
Moreover, Capital City Police Officer Lahore Bilal Siddique Kamyana Saturday chaired a meeting at his office to review security arrangements for peaceful conduct of matches of Pakistan Super League-9 (PSL-9). It was informed in the meeting that nine matches under the PSL-9 would be played in the provincial capital. More than 7,000 policemen have been deputed for security of the matches.
